Juliana. insightful, as always! I have a question: you mention we won’t have another super moon eclipse like this until 2042, but when was the last one? Maybe they were unremarkable, but I am curious thank you🙏🏼
Hi Salem! This one is not a Supermoon. It is a "deep penumbral eclipse." The last very deep penumbral eclipse was in Feb. 2017 (in the same year of the Great American Solar Eclipse in Aug. 2017), and the next will be April 2042. Re: Supermoons, those are different, They occur "when the Moon is at least 90% of the way to its perigee position at the same time it is in its full or new phase. An extreme perigean Supermoon is when a new or full Moon happens at the same time the Moon is at perigee. This year, the first will be on July 3, the second will be on August 1, the third on August 31 (also a Blue Moon), and the fourth will be on September 29, 2023. There will also be two New Moon Supermoons in 2023. The first one is on January 21, and the other on February 20 (in the Eastern Time Zones, or the 19th in Pacific Time Zone)." https://www.farmersalmanac.com/supermoon-11971
I like 'Beltane' or 'May Day'. I have fond memories of dancing around the May pole in a pale blue organdy dress with butterfly wings, in first grade, 1951. The Lunar eclipse will be exact on my
natal moon. Not sure what that portends but I will let you know if anything drastic occurs.
