It's time to get ready for a major cosmic shift! On June 1, 2024, Uranus will move into Taurus. With this new transit, we can expect a quantum leap and radical changes in the direction of the world.
In this article, I'm going to unpack this important astrological event. First, I will explain the general meaning of the planet Uranus, the sign Taurus, and Uranus in the sign of Taurus. Next, I'll use this information to describe how Uranus in Taurus could activate a new direction in our lives. After this, I'll discuss what this transit means for the world at large.
Finally, I'll do a deep dive into the impact of the transit on the United States. I'll look at the position of Uranus in the United States birth chart. This will allow me to use historical data from past Uranus transits to understand what this upcoming planetary shift could mean for the nation.
Let's get started!
Understanding the Transit of Uranus
Uranus makes a complete orbit around the Sun (a year in Uranian time) in about 84 Earth years. It spends an average of seven years in each sign. Because of its extensive retrograde cycles, Uranus can spend a longer length of time in each sign. In this case, Uranus will spend eight years on and off in Taurus.
Uranus will enter Taurus on June 1, 2024. It will retrograde back into Aries from December 14, 2024 to March 19, 2025. In 2031, Uranus will visit Gemini for about six months before moving briefly back into Taurus. On April 20, 2032, Uranus will finally leave Taurus for its extended transit in Gemini.
Uranus: Planet of Eccentricity, Unpredictable Changes, Rebellion, and Reformation
In astrology, Uranus rules psychology, psychic power, the kundalini life force, spiritual awakening, and energy of all kinds (and it represents astrology, too!). Uranus has a restless, volatile, exciting, eccentric, and rebellious quality. It signifies electricity, electronics, aviation, space, scientific and technological innovation, and anything out-of-the-ordinary (like AI, UFOs, and digital currencies).

Known as the “bolt out of the blue,” Uranus is known to bring sudden and sometimes shocking changes. It is also connected to lightning strikes, earthquakes, and volcanic activity, as well as explosive accidents and events. Uranus is all about the urge for freedom, individualism, and progress. As such, it is emblematic of political, financial, and societal revolution.
Understanding the Role of Taurus in Vedic Astrology
Taurus is the fixed Earth sign associated with strength, fertility, creativity, material resources, and the primal forces of nature. Taurus is very much at home in the physical world of nature and the senses. As a sign of consistency, diligence, and efficiency, Taurus represents a superior work ethic and the desire for practical, useful results. The ruler of Taurus is Venus, the planet of love, harmony, peace, physical comfort, wealth, and worth. Therefore, this is the sign that seeks to establish true meaning, value, and enjoyment in life.
Uranus in Taurus: The Power of Divine Manifestation
Now that you understand the general nature of Uranus and Taurus, let's talk about what happens when this planet and sign interact.
A certain tension exists between Taurus and Uranus. This is because conventional Taurus prizes stability, security, and practicality, whereas the rebel Uranus likes to shake things up. In Taurus, growth is best achieved through perseverance and an orderly approach, but Uranus is more spontaneous, experimental, and can even be chaotic.
The solution to working through this tension is to remain grounded, flexible, and open-minded in order to channel the higher inspiration of the cosmic mind (Uranus) down into physical form (Taurus); and conversely, to attune more deeply in harmony with nature. If we can do this, we will have an opportunity to explore, innovate, and fulfill our dreams in realistic terms.
As an example of this concept, consider the birth chart of the late Serbian-American inventor, engineer, and futurist Nikola Tesla, born July 10, 1856 at 00:01 AM in Smiljan, Croatia, with Uranus in early Taurus.
As a pioneer of alternating current (AC) electricity, Tesla understood that his own genius came from an ability to attune his mind with the divine mind of God in order to harness the forces of nature in service of humanity:
My brain is only a receiver, in the Universe there is a core from which we obtain knowledge, strength and inspiration. I have not penetrated into the secrets of this core, but I know that it exists. (Nikola Tesla)
How Uranus in Taurus Could Change Our Lives
Generally, Uranus activates new awareness and major breakthroughs. A Uranus transit can shock our senses and wake us up to something new and surprising that is necessary for our soul’s development.
Although a transit of Uranus can indicate extensive and immutable transformation, these changes can take time to fully manifest because Uranus moves relatively slowly. It’s quite complicated to assess all this in each individual horoscope, and this is something I am currently focusing on for my clients in my astrological consultations.
Uranus in Taurus on a Global Level: Transforming Our Notions of Value, Security, and Success
Now that we've discussed the impact of Uranus in Taurus on a personal level, let's look at how this transit could affect the world. Taurus represents the earning capacity of nations, banks and banking, trade, and business. It also relates to seismic events, civil engineering, the physical sciences, journalism, television, the automobile industry, agriculture and food production, and the postal service.
Uranus may profoundly disrupt and alter any and all of these Taurean sectors of life. Existing conditions will be turned upside down as societal notions of value, security, and success are transformed. The most significant impact will likely be seen in the transformation of our financial systems.
A Time of Dramatic Upheaval and Change for the United States
The Uranus in Taurus transit may have an especially large impact on the United States. To understand why, let's look at Uranus's position in the United States birth chart.
When the United States was formed in 1776, Uranus was transiting in Taurus. This means that Uranus occupies the sign of Taurus in the United States birth chart. As this chart has a Sagittarius Ascendant, Uranus in Taurus falls in the Sixth House of the United States birth chart.
The Sixth House specifically signifies the struggles of the laboring classes, federal and consumer debt, the national food supplies, the armed forces and wars, political and legal hostilities and battles, rebellions, and public health and disease. Uranus’s transit here will not only reshape how we think about and interact with money and banking, but also suggests a big impact on all other Sixth House matters.
In the United States birth chart, Uranus occupies 18 degrees of Taurus. The planet falls within a two-degree effective orb of the fixed star Aldebaran at 16 degrees of Taurus. Aldebaran is a bright star that marks the red eye of the Bull in the Taurus constellation. It is the thirteenth brightest star in the sky with a diameter 45 times that of our Sun.
According to Astrology, Aldebaran is said to act like Mars, and is associated with technological innovation, political power, military strength, and enormous wealth. Aldebaran is also connected with significant meteorological events, anger, danger, and accidents. Known as the Eye of Revelation, Aldebaran in its highest expression is seen as a portal to higher consciousness.
The Third United States Uranus Return
In 2028, four years after Uranus enters the sign of Taurus, the United States will experience its third Uranus Return. This means that Uranus will return to the same degree and sign that it occupied at the birth of the United States in 1776. During the United States Uranus Return, Uranus will also come within a few degrees of conjunction with Aldebaran. This event occurs about once every 84 years and lasts about a year or so.
Looking at the past transits of Uranus in Taurus along with the previous United States Uranus Returns can help us understand the impact of this upcoming transit.
The last time that Uranus transited in Taurus was from 1940 to 1948, during World War II (1939-1945). Some of the inventions during this time were the V-2 rocket (first long range ballistic missile), polyester, the method of radio carbon dating, and the microwave oven.
During the United States Uranus Return (1944-1945), the United States developed the atomic bombs that were deployed over Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Agricultural methods also made some progress during this period and actually benefited from the enhanced mechanization which made up for labor shortages. Yet, it was a period of tremendous economic hardship that continued after the war.
The Bretton Woods Agreement was a significant economic event that also occurred during this time (July 1944). This was the establishment of a new monetary system through which a fixed currency exchange rate could be created using gold as the universal standard. Involving representatives from 44 nations, Bretton Woods cemented the dollar’s status as the global reserve currency while also creating centralized banking through the creation of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank.
Previously, Uranus transited in Taurus from 1856 to 1864. During this period, the United States Uranus Return and conjunction with Aldebaran took place from 1859-1861. The American Civil War occurred from 1861 to 1865. After the war ended, the United States experienced its worst economic period in the nation’s history. Inflation surged as fiat currency was issued for legal tender (and was unbacked by silver or gold).
Although food was a scarce commodity during the Civil War, methods for growing, cooking, and buying food changed dramatically during this time. Some of the important inventions of this period were celluloid (plastic), the pasteurization process, the rechargeable battery, and the first practical vapor compression ice maker and refrigerator.
The Carrington Event occurred on September 1-2, 1859, when Uranus was conjunct Aldebaran. This was the most powerful geomagnetic storm in recorded history. It created strong auroral displays globally, and sparked fires in telegraph stations. Were it to happen today, such an event could wreak havoc on satellites and other forms of electronics and technology.
Going further back in time, Uranus was previously in Taurus from 1772 to 1780. The American Revolution occurred within this period. This transit saw tremendous economic upheaval. It was a time of runaway inflation, government debt, and currency debasement. The period from 1776-1779 saw massive food shortages and also food riots. Some of the inventions of this period include the first machine tool (a boring machine) and the air compressor.
In summary, past transits of Uranus in Taurus show a pattern of civil unrest, political struggles, revolutionary events, war, and economic hardship, but also new inventions, and issues with the food supply that led to new agricultural and food production methods. Disruptive changes are likely to occur again within monetary systems during this new transit of Uranus in Taurus. We will likely continue to experience ongoing proxy wars and new developments in the food supply.
The Uranus in Taurus Ingress Chart Sets the Stage
The astrological chart cast for the moment that Uranus enters Taurus will set the stage for the entire Uranus in Taurus transit. Let's see how this chart can help us understand the transit that will happen next month.
When Uranus enters Taurus on June 1, it will join in a large conjunction known as a stellium, involving an alignment of Uranus with several other planets including the Sun, Venus, Jupiter, and Mercury. Additionally, all of these planets will be apected (squared) by Saturn, the lord of karma.
The entire upcoming transit of Uranus in Taurus looks to be especially potent and significant because all of these planets are joining Uranus at its entry point in Taurus. The stellium will occupy the most important First House of the Washington, DC chart. This house symbolizes the national identity and the nation as a whole. The stellium here represents an intense and conflictual karmic intertwinement. Please see my article about this planetary alignment for more specific information.
Similar conjunctions took place previously in 1941 and 1526. These conjunctions occurred around significant military attacks and historical turning points. At the Taurus ingress, Uranus and Mercury will conjoin Algol, a fixed star associated with tyranny, iniquity, violence, and disasters. Thus, the world will likely experience some shocking and misfortunate event or events, specifically in late May or early June.

I am not in any way competent as an astrologer, so I may be misreading this entire situation, however I myself have experienced events that predict a downfall, a reduction in power for the ruling classes. I have been looking at astrology and wondering if a shakeup in authority is a possibility, according to the stars, and it seems to be so.
An informative piece!
Thanks.
