The Golden Day of Eternal Success Will Occur On Saturday, April 22
Everything you need to know about this rare and wonderful day
Please note that this and all my other forecasts are based on the sidereal zodiac used in both Vedic and Western sidereal astrology, not the tropical system used by most Western and some Vedic astrologers. All the astrological charts below are calculated according to the sidereal zodiac and Lahiri Ayanamsa.
The Golden Day of Eternal Success, also known as Akshaya Tritiya, will occur on Saturday, April 22 in North and South America, Europe, Africa, the Middle East, and India. For points further east, this special day will occur on Sunday, April 23. You can check the online panchanga for your particular area to be sure of the exact time.
The Golden Day of Eternal Success is known as an abhuj muhurta. Abhuj muhurtas fall on just a few of the holiest days of the Vedic calendar. The deep energy movements that occur on these days are allegorically described by ancient legends and astrological lore. Thus, abhuj muhurtas are considered to be very spiritually empowered days that are fully auspicious for beginning any new important ventures.
“Abhuj” refers to something eternal, so the abhuj muhurtas focus on the stability and durability of anything begun on this day. It’s important to know that abhuj muhurtas can help to override difficult astrological aspects that are also happening simultaneously, so these special days are truly a Godsend.
Turning Your Efforts and Work Into Gold
The abhuj muhurta on April 22 (or 23) is called Akshay(a) Tritiya. On this day, it is said that anything you start or establish will “turn to gold.” “Kshaya” means destruction and the “A” in front of it means “not." Together, this word means “not destructible.” So anything we initiate on an abuj muhurta like Akshaya Tritiya tends to promise success over time.
Therefore, in Vedic electional astrology (known as muhurta), this day is a great time for performing important deeds, including giving to charity and performing spiritual practices. It is also a good time to begin new projects, make important sales or purchases, or establish significant business or personal relationships. Basically, this is an excellent time to set something significant in motion (even just your good intentions).
Understanding the Legends Behind Akshaya Tritiya
There are many legends about Akshaya Tritiya. First and foremost, Akshaya Tritiya always occurs during the beneficent month of Vaisakha, which spans from April 20 to May 20. However, the exact date of this event changes every year.
Vaisakha is the favorite month of the Supreme Lord Vishnu who sustains and supports the entire material creation. This month is also called Madhavmas, the month of Lord Krishna. He was also a supreme being and the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu.
Akshaya Tritiya is also celebrated as the birthday of the sixth avatar of Lord Vishnu known as Parashurama, who is known for having reclaimed all the land from the sea. He is depicted carrying an axe-like weapon (vidyudabhi), one of the weapons of Lord Shiva, who gave it to Parashurama and taught him how to use it. Parashurama’s name means "Rama with the Axe.” Akshaya Tritiya is often observed as Parashurama Jayanti in Vaishnava temples.

Why This Special Event Is Called the Golden Day of Eternal Success
Akshaya Tritiya is also known as Akha Teej, the “Golden Day of Eternal Success.” According to ancient lore, the Satya Yuga, a Golden Age of Humankind which occurred long ago, began on Akshaya Tritiya. In another legend, Lord Kuber (or Kubera), the Vedic god of wealth, was given a great deal of gold and was assigned the lordship over the wealth of the heavens on Akshaya Tritiya. As a result, on this day, Lord Kubera blesses all with prosperity.
Because of these references to gold, it is considered lucky to purchase gold jewelry, bullion, or coins on this day every year. I myself always purchase some Bitcoin (“digital gold”) on this day.
A Fantastic Day for Spiritual Rituals, Donations, and Writing
In another legend, the Goddess Ganga (who became the River Ganga) descended to Earth from Heaven on Akshaya Tritiya. Therefore, it is a special day for taking a holy bath in the River Ganga, and also for pujas (spiritual fire rituals). This day is also the birthday of Annapurna, goddess of food and nourishment, so it is a good idea to offer a donation to a food bank on this day as a propitiation.
Veda Vyas and Lord Ganesha began to write the Mahabharata, a famous historical epic, on Akshaya Tritiya. It is therefore a superb day to start a writing project or publish one’s writing.
A Day of Heightened Lunar and Solar Power
On Akshaya Tritiya, the Lights of our solar system, the Sun and Moon (also known as the King and Queen of the Planetary Kingdom), are simultaneously exalted (uucha), which is a rare event that happens once a year. The higher qualities of the Sun and Moon are maximized at this time.
The Sun signifies the soul and vitality of life. It is the symbol of our power, confidence, and authority. The Moon is the feeling mind, Manas, in which the Soul (Jiva) resides, and it represents abundance, nurturing, and creativity. When the Sun and Moon are simultaneously exalted, these characteristics within us and in the world are activated and become more aligned and accessible.
A Time to Worship the Divine Mother
On Akshaya Tritiya, the Moon is waxing on the third day after New Moon. This day each month is known as tritiya tithi, which falls among the most auspicious monthly lunar days (jaya tithis) which are associated with the blessings and worship of any of the forms of the Divine Mother. The Nitya Goddess associated with tritiya tithi is called Nityaklinna. She is a very nourishing form of the Divine Mother who resides in the potent creative center of the Svadisthana chakra (the sacral/second chakra).
More specifically, and according to the Agni Purana, Shiva and Shakti were married on one of the tritiya tithis. Their divine union symbolizes the marriage of Heaven and Earth. In one South Indian tale, Shiva and Parvati (Sundareshvara and Minakshi) were married on Akshaya Tritiya. So, it is auspicious to have one’s wedding on this day.
May the blessings of Akshaya Tritiya fill your life with joy, peace, happiness, good fortune, and prosperity forever!
