Tantric Remedy for Burning Karma
For Tuesdays or Saturdays, but especially helpful today, Tue., March 29, 2022
Tuesday is the day of Mars, a tikshna “sharp and quickly transforming” day that is good for tantric (occult) remedies. In India's culture, these kinds of remedies are known as totake (singular, totaka) and sometimes written as totke. I have a great one for you to do on Tuesdays or Saturdays (the days of Mars and Saturn). It’s a good one to do any Tuesday and Saturday but especially today during the waning Balsamic Moon, and on this last Mars Day in the old lunar year, as the Vedic lunar new year is fast approaching.
This totke/totake is to bring some clearing and healing energies to any karmic challenges we might be facing, which are reflected in astrology by the malefic planets Saturn and Mars, who are in conjunction now, and are both very strong and potentially agitating; and also Ketu and Rahu who act like Mars and Saturn, and who are forming the ongoing intense Kala Sarpa Yoga that I have written about many times before.
Such issues can include money or career problems; chronic or acute illness; stress; poor focus and self-discipline; lack of endurance; emotional vulnerability; and overall "bad luck." Basically, with this remedy, we are using our intention to burn up any of our difficult karmas.
How do any astrological and tantric/occult remedies work? First, keep in mind that who we are in the big picture is not operating under the same laws of the physical dimension. In other words, there are cosmic forces exerting an effect on us through subtle channels, and these are beyond logic, reason and scientific evidence.
With all kinds of remedies, we are focusing our mind and creative energy (shakti) to empower archetypal forces within ourselves and in nature, which in turn help us contact the ultimate divine power behind all of creation, where we can access and align with the forces that balance karma and bring blessings through grace.
So here you go. The remedy involves taking two threads, one red and one black: red for Mars and Ketu, and black for Saturn and Rahu. The threads should be of equal length, and also equal to your own height.
Comb out some of your hair or cut out a little bit from the nape of your neck where it will not be noticed (even just a few strands of hair will be enough). If you are bald, use hair from arms or underarms. Wrap and tie the two threads around the hair in a small bundle.
If you want to use your sankalpa (intention) while doing it, that is a very useful practice, too, especially if there is a specific issue you would like to transform. Then, the whole bundle should be burnt. Hair represents karma. The threads symbolize your karma manifested through the aforementioned malefic planets (the grahas of Vedic astrology who grasp us with our karma). The element of fire represents the power of transformation to help us let it all go. Out with the old, in with the new!
