On Tuesday night, June 28, at 10:52 PM EDT, the New Moon will occur in the constellation of Gemini constellation in Ardra nakshatra. This will be early Wednesday morning, June 29, in Europe and Africa; and later on Wednesday morning in Asia; and on Wednesday afternoon in Australia and New Zealand. You can look up the New Moon time for your exact location at Time and Date.
The Balsamic “Dreamtime” lunar phase comprises the four days preceding the New Moon. This waning Moon time is good for tuning in, resting, releasing, clearing, meditating, and healing, in preparation for the next lunar month that begins at the New Moon.

The Gemini New Moon opens the door to new ideas, projects, and lines of communication. This is also a Moon of Transformation as it occupies Ardra nakshatra, which is ruled by Rudra, Lord Shiva’s fierce aspect. He is the Lord of the Storm who represents cycles of transformation as well as fertilizing rains.
Not only is this nakshatra associated with literal and figurative storms, but it also relates to the clarity that comes after a storm.
Here in Northern New Mexico where I live, the abundant monsoon season began just after the Sun entered Ardra nakshatra on June 22, and we have been enjoying a great deal of much-need cooling rain during the past week.

The New Moon (Moon + Sun) falls in the Capricorn navamsa, i.e., the ninth harmonic section of Gemini which is the second pada (section) of Ardra nakshatra. Because Gemini and Capricorn have a challenging 6/8 relationship (quincunx), this can bring up serious financial or other practical concerns which may require adjustment.
Nevertheless, when operating in its higher expression, Ardra nakshatra signifies the power to make efforts, whereas Capricorn navamsa can lend the determination, focus, and organization needed for any accomplishment. Therefore, this New Moon can support us in letting go and moving forward, if we can maintain some equipoise in the process.
The idea of “equipoise” may be especially important as the New Moon (and Sun) square Jupiter in Pisces, pointing to ideological tension, conflict with those in authority, righteous anger, and emotional extremes. Seeking a balanced understanding while recalibrating certain attitudes and behaviors may be necessary in order to create a sense of peace through a greater perspective.
