Mars retrograded in Cancer on the 6th of December 2024. It moved back into Gemini on January 20, and will turn direct in Gemini on Sunday, the 23rd of February 2025, at 9 PM EST (24th February at 2 AM UTC).
Please note that some will begin to experience the effect of the Mars station a few days in advance of February 23, when we may feel a bit wobbly or more tired than usual. As Mars stations direct, it can also take several days for its energy to get going.
The Significance of Mars Retrograde
The upcoming Mars direct station may be impactful for many of us, and especially those who have Aries or Scorpio as their Ascendant, Sun, Moon, or Atmakaraka sign. This astrological event can also be significant for those who are in Mars dashas. If Mars is transiting over natal planets or chart points in the area between 20 degrees of Gemini and 15 degrees of Cancer, it may also bring new momentum into important areas of your life.
During the Mars retrograde cycle, your energy levels, personal power, confidence, motivation, and drive may have felt diminished, blocked, and frustrated. You may have experienced immense challenges, intense pressures, agitation, and impatience. In fact, you might have felt like you were being tested almost beyond your limit! Issues with siblings or other family members may have been challenging for some (as Mars rules siblings, and it stationed retrograde in Cancer, the sign of the family).
