June 2025 Vedic Astrology Forecast
The solstice, a very special Full Moon, extra lucky days, and more!
It was June, and the world smelled of roses. The sunshine was like powdered gold over the grassy hillside. (Maud Hart Lovelace)
Can you believe it's already June? It seems like May went by so quickly!
As you probably know, June is the sacred turning point of the year! This is when (in the northern hemisphere) the spring season’s tide overflows with joyful abandon. The glorious Sun appears at its height during this month of ripening strawberries, blooming roses, fireflies, diamond showers, warm breezes, and hopeful hearts. And how fitting, as June is the sweetest month most often extolled by poets.
Here I share some of June’s most important astrological events and a few Vedic celebrations. Because I am not able to share every astrological transit in this article, I encourage you to follow me on Notes, Substack's built-in social network where I post regular updates about transits, Vedic holidays, and more!
If you don't have time to read my article, I have a new feature that you might enjoy! I've added a podcast option for those of you who prefer to listen instead of read. You can hear my son Jared (who studies Vedic astrology and often helps me with my work) reading the June forecast here.
OK then, let’s get started!
June 1: The First Day of Meteorological Summer in the Northern Hemisphere - Time to Start a New Season
June 1 marks the first day of meteorological summer in the northern hemisphere. It will be the first day of meteorological winter in the southern hemisphere. The meteorological seasons are based on weather and temperature cycles.
June 3: Dhumavati Jayanti - Happy Birthday to the Goddess of Letting Go
Dhumavati Jayanti is an auspicious day celebrating the birth of Maa Dhumavati, one of the ten Tantric Wisdom Goddesses. Dhumavati represents the impermanence of life, and is thus depicted in a cremation ground riding a chariot driven by crows, or sometimes perched on a crow. Her name means the “Smoky One,” because part of her power is to conceal the material realm in order to reveal the deeper reality beyond the worldly illusions of Maya.
Dhumavati can be invoked to help us liberate the mind and let go of egoistic attachments in order to attain spiritual and emotional freedom. According to Vedic astrology, Dhumavati can also be propitiated as a remedy for problems related to Ketu.
June 4-8: Mars Will Transit in the Gandanta - Potential for Upheaval or Transformation
Mars will transit out of Cancer and into Leo on June 6. It will cross the tumultuous one-degree edge between Cancer and Leo from June 4-8. This area between a water and a fire sign is known as the gandanta in Vedic astrology. Mars transiting on this edge can represent a karmic knot breaking open (like a flash point), indicating an especially sensitive period when there could be big storms or other kinds of upheaval. During this transit of Mars, some of us will feel very tired, impatient, or aggravated. Thus, we should take care to manage our emotions, exercise moderation, and avoid unnecessary conflict.
June 5 to 22: Mercury Will Transit in Gemini - A Time to be Extra-Mindful in All Matters
Mercury will transit in its own abode of Gemini from June 5 to 22. Generally, Mercury’s transit in Gemini indicates a very active, dynamic, and convivial time. However, Mercury will conjoin Jupiter in Gemini from June 5-12, and these two planets will be in a planetary war on June 9. At the same time, Saturn will square Mercury.
These aspects can indicate excitability, inappropriate behavior, anxiety, or distraction. Caution is advised especially around June 8 or 9 when we might see communication breakdowns, erratic energies, or confusing interactions with others. The key throughout this transit is to remain grounded and focused, and to be extra-mindful in all matters.
June 6 to July 28: Mars Will Transit in Leo - Reawakening Courage, Vitality, and Passion
Mars is finally leaving Cancer and entering Leo on June 6. It will remain here until July 28. Cancer is the sign of Mars’ debilitation (weakness), where it can represent a big “disturbance in the force.” If you need a refresher on this recent transit, you can refer to my previous article about it.
Once Mars passes through the aforementioned gandanta, it should be better positioned in Leo. Mars in Leo is associated with prosperity, courage, vitality, passion, and decisive action. Therefore, this transit should have a positive impact on our health, energy, creative pursuits, and commercial as well as financial enterprises.
However, Mars in Leo on the downside can be zealous, self-righteous, defensive, and combative. This Mars transit is also problematical as Mars will square Uranus from June 11-19 (using an effective 2-degree orb), which can be indicative of turmoil and accidents (especially airplane accidents).
Many Vedic astrologers have been forewarning about the concurrent transit of Mars and Ketu in Leo. However, in my opinion, the actual conjunction of Mars and Ketu will not be within an effective orb of influence until July 7 to 30. Therefore, I will discuss this topic in my July update!
June 6: Gayatri Jayanti - Happy Birthday to Gayatri Mataji!
Gayatri Jayanti is the birthday of the goddess Gayatri. She is recognized as Veda Mata, the mother of the Vedas and all the deities. She embodies the pure essence of Saraswati, Parvati, and Lakshmi. This is a special day in the Vedic calendar for pujas, fasting, offerings, and especially for chanting the supreme Gayatri mantra.
June 9 to July 10: Jupiter Combust - Time to Purify our Faith and Realign with our Highest Purpose and Path in Life
Jupiter will combust the Sun from June 9 to July 10. At this time, Jupiter will be within an 11-degree orb of conjunction with the Sun. When a planet is combust, it is so close to the Sun that it becomes invisible to us. Specifically, Jupiter will have disappeared from the evening sky at this time, and will slowly begin to reappear in the early-morning sky later in July.
When Jupiter is combust, we need to stay strong and maintain equanimity. If we become agitated, we might lose our direction and our sense of meaning and purpose. We could experience hopelessness, self-doubt, and a sense of scarcity. Since Jupiter will be in Gemini, its combustion can point to a time when we need to improve our mental focus and communication skills.
Jupiter combustion occurs once every year, so we all have had experience with it. More importantly, this is happening as part of the overall karmic curriculum in the “Earth School of Life.” Just as gold is fashioned in the intense heat of the refiner's fire, Jupiter at this time is being symbolically “burnt up" by the Sun in order to give us an opportunity to purify our faith and realign with our highest purpose and path in life.
June 9: Saturn and Neptune Conjunction - Indicating Dramatic Events Unfolding Through August
On June 9, Saturn and Neptune in Pisces will come very close together, within an effective one-degree orb of conjunction. By the end of June, they will come even closer, within 25 zodiacal minutes of each other. They will remain close to each other until September. At this point, they will move apart and come close together again in February 2026.
The conjunction of Saturn and Neptune occurs every 36 years and marks the beginning of a new era when many deeply entrenched societal problems come to a head and must be firmly faced. The conjunction also points to the potential for civil unrest, propaganda and psychological operations (PSYOPS); international conflicts; ongoing immigration, border, and global trade concerns; oil, gas, chemicals, and deadly environmental toxins; and issues with water, waterways, and floods. There could also be a religious resurgence, growing interest in the paranormal, and cultural transformation.
June 11: The Full Moon in Scorpio - A Time to Overcome Obstacles
The Full Moon will occur on June 11 at 3:44 AM EDT (7:44 AM UTC). The lunation will occur at 26 degrees of Scorpio in the profound and insightful Jyestha nakshatra, and in the mystical and compassionate Pisces navamsa.
This will be the last Full Moon of the spring season in the northern hemisphere (and the last of the fall season in the southern hemisphere). In the northern hemisphere, berries are ripening and roses are bursting forth in bloom now, which is why this lunation is known as the Berries Ripening Moon, the Strawberry Moon, and the Rose Moon! A Full Moon, berries ripening, and roses blooming — who can think of anything lovelier and more magical?
In the Vedic tradition, the June Full Moon is known as Jyestha Purnima, and it marks a special time to pray for spiritual protection, strength, and courage to help us fight our battles and overcome our obstacles.
Lord Indra, is the deity associated with Jyestha nakshatra. He is the embodiment of the will power and resolve needed to combat chaos, crime, and violence in order to establish order in the world!
This Full Moon is also celebrated as Vat Savitri Vat in South India. It is a fasting, bathing, and puja period that lasts several days, during which wives make spiritual offerings and perform rituals for the benefit of their husbands and their families.
June 14 to July 16: The Sun Will Transit in Gemini - A Time for Fun, Creativity, and Connection
The Sun will transit in Gemini from June 14 to July 16. The Sun in Gemini can be playful, versatile, curious, creative, and communicative. In general, this can be a lighthearted and happy time. During this transit, many people can become very busy and more focused on having fun, traveling, socializing, learning, or engaging in business matters. The downside can be a tendency for restlessness, impatience, or criticism.
The Sun will not enter Gemini until the evening of June 14 at 9:14 PM EDT. This means that Saturday into Sunday morning will be the sankranti time, when the Sun is in transition on the vulnerable edge of two signs (sandhi). This is typically considered an unstable period that can have negative consequences.
Big earthquakes, major storms, floods, accidents, and violent civil or military conflicts have occurred on previous occasions of the sankranti Sun moving from Taurus into Gemini and also for several days around this transitionary period. So we should not “rock the boat," but should stay steady, mindful, and alert, and take it easy out there!
On a more positive note, the day that the Sun enters Gemini is called Mithuna Sankranti in the Vedic tradition. In certain parts of India, Mithuna Sankranti marks the start of the joyful monsoon season.
June 18 to 22: Two Yods - Potential for Dramatic Events
From June 18 to 22, Mars and Pluto will be forming a potentially tumultuous aspect with Saturn and Neptune, known as a yod or “finger of fate” (or “finger of God”). A yod is formed when two or more planets are in a sextile (3/11 aspect) and both form a quincunx (150-degree or 6/8 aspect) with a third planet at the apex.
In this case it is Mars at the apex, and Pluto is quincunx Mars, and Saturn-Neptune are also quincunx Mars, and Pluto is sextile Saturn and Neptune (all within an effective 1-2 degree orb). Mars is also square Uranus (within an effective two-degree orb from June 11-19). This is a combination for turmoil and accidents. The Moon will activate this configuration on June 18-19 when it conjoins Saturn and Neptune.
At the same time, a second yod will occur involving Pluto quincunx Mars and Pluto quincunx Jupiter and the Sun, while Pluto is at the apex, and Jupiter and the Sun are in sextile with Mars (and again, Mars will be square Uranus, a difficult combination indicating violence and tumultuous events).
These yod formations could suggest some turmoil or a dramatic, turbulent event (or events). These aspects will also be occurring in the same time range as the sensitive solstice standstill which will begin June 18. Such events could involve the United States as transiting Mars will conjoin President Trump’s Ascendant-Mars conjunction. I say this because, according to Mundane Astrology, the birth chart of the leader of a nation tends to reflect the collective karma of the nation.
June 20-21: The Solstice - Be Cautious, and Focus on Spiritual Attunement and Communion with Nature
The solstice will occur on Friday, June 20, at 10:42 PM EDT, or on June 21 at 2:42 AM UTC. Use the World Time Buddy to find the exact time if your location is different. This will be the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, and the first day of summer in the northern hemisphere. It will be the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year, and the first day of winter in the southern hemisphere. On the June solstice, the Sun will appear to touch the northernmost point along the horizon and rest for three days before embarking on its six-month southerly journey.
Solstices generate subtle magnetic changes within us and in the world at large. Those who are especially sensitive may start to feel these shifting energies three days in advance of the solstice standstill, and for three days afterward, as well. During this time, our mental activity may be amplified, which can trigger psychological imbalances or relationship conflicts. Our physical health may be vulnerable, so it’s important to be extra mindful and vigilant.
Understanding the Solstices According to Vedic Astrology
During the three days before, the day of, and three days after a solstice, Classical Muhurta (Vedic electional astrology) advises that we avoid launching a project or initiating anything important that we want to be of lasting, long-term value. This is because the Sun is in transition and not strong enough to hold together whatever it is that we set into motion now. Instead, it is recommended that we spend quiet time in nature, focus on contemplative practices, perform spiritual rituals, and prioritize health and well-being during this seasonal transition.
According to Vedic astrology, the first waxing half of the solar year from winter to summer solstice is known as uttarayana. This is the Vishnu half of the year that represents the expansive cycle of conscious energy projecting upward and outward into the material realm. Uttarayana is the most opportune half of the year in which to establish new enterprises. For those in the northern hemisphere, this part of the yearly cycle will end at the summer solstice on June 20, or June 21 in some parts of the world, and will begin again at the winter solstice on December 21, 2025. (And of course, all of this is reversed in the southern hemisphere).
Dakshinayana is the second half of the solar year extending from summer to winter solstice. This is when Lord Vishnu takes his rest and Lord Shiva steps in. During this part of the year, the Sun’s power will gradually wane as it moves southward in its declination cycle. In dakshinayana, we may reap what was sown during uttarayana. That is to say, dakshinayana is generally the time for winding down and finishing what was set into motion in the first half of the year. As the natural flow slowly moves back to Source during dakshinayana, this is the hemicycle in which to focus more deeply on health, healing, and spiritual practices and rituals. (And of course, all of this is reversed in the southern hemisphere).
June 22 to 25: Balsamic Moon Cycle - Time to Turn Within, Rest, and Regroup
The Balsamic “Dreamtime” lunar phase comprises several days preceding the New Moon. It begins when the Moon is transiting forty-five degrees behind the Sun. Like the solstice, the Balsamic Moon phase is not the right time to initiate new endeavors. Instead, we should use this time to tune-in, clear, cleanse, rest, heal, meditate, and recharge, which will help us prepare for the next lunar month that will begin at the New Moon on June 25.
June 22 to August 30: The Extended Transit of Mercury in Cancer - Restlessness, Insecurity, Melancholy, and Negative Emotions
Mercury will transit in Cancer from June 22 to August 30. This transit will be much longer than usual because Mercury will retrograde in July and August. Mercury represents our cognitive abilities, communication style, learning, and analytical thinking. When transiting in Cancer, Mercury can inspire higher than usual states of intuition and empathy, which is why this transit enhances connection and creativity. Yet, in its less favorable expression, Mercury in Cancer can have a melancholic and restless tone, and can also be associated with insecurity, emotional reasoning, a loss of objectivity, and negative emotions.
June 24: Jupiter’s Exact Conjunction with the Sun - An Expansive and Hopeful Time
Jupiter will exactly conjoin the Sun at nine degrees of Gemini on June 24. This transit marks the halfway point in the Jupiter combust cycle which extends from June 9 to July 10 (and which I wrote about previously) : "When Jupiter is combust, we need to stay strong and maintain equanimity. If we become agitated, we might lose our direction and our sense of meaning and purpose. We could experience hopelessness, self-doubt, and a sense of scarcity. Since Jupiter will be in Gemini, its combustion can point to a time when we need to improve our mental focus and communication skills."
As Jupiter exactly conjoins the Sun, this is known as cazimi, meaning that Jupiter is in the heart of the Sun and thus becomes wondrously strong. This fusion of the Sun and Jupiter amplifies the benevolent and positive qualities of Jupiter and can even indicate miracles. It may activate a renewed sense of energy, hope and purpose, and may also suggest a positive turning point. This can be an especially helpful transit for those who have any planets or chart points in the first half of a mutable sign (in Gemini, Sagittarius, Pisces, and Virgo), especially if you have not been feeling so well recently.
June 25: The New Moon in Gemini - Opening the Door to New Ideas, Projects, and Lines of Communication
The New Moon will occur in Gemini on June 25 at 6:32 AM EDT (10:32 AM UTC). You can look up the New Moon time for your exact location at Time and Date.
The Gemini New Moon opens the door to new ideas, projects, and lines of communication. This is also a Moon of Transformation as it occupies the fiery Ardra nakshatra, which is ruled by Rudra, Lord Shiva’s fierce aspect. He is the Lord of the Storm who represents cycles of intense change as well as fertilizing rains. The Jupiter-New Moon conjunction suggests an abundant monsoon season ahead in Asia. This same weather pattern could also occur in Northwestern Mexico and the American Southwest, which are home to the North American Monsoon.
Jupiter’s conjunction with the New Moon may reflect hope and optimism, and powerful changes at hand. Conversely, the Moon and Jupiter are also squaring the Saturn-Neptune conjunction in Pisces. Pluto, Mars, the New Moon, and Jupiter are additionally forming a yod (finger of fate), with Pluto in the eighth house of danger and death sitting at the apex of the yod. All of this highlights dramatic events, and a prevailing sense of danger, mass confusion, chaos, pessimism, and anxiety that will likely continue for the next few months.
June 29 to July 25: Venus Will Transit in Taurus - Comfort and Stability in Relationships and Finances
Venus is the planet in astrology that rules the water element, emotions, values, diplomacy, love, beauty, and wealth. Venus will transit out of fiery Aries and into earthy Taurus on Sunday, June 29, where it will remain until July 25. For a few days after it enters Taurus, we should be cautious as Venus will conjoin the fixed star Caput Algol (or just Algol).
Algol is the Blinking Star of the Demon symbolized by Medusa’s head. In its lower expression, the conjunction of Algol with Venus can reflect violent events, big storms, and challenges with financial matters or relationships. It can be associated with “losing one’s head” through out-of-control emotional reactions, intoxication, and other forms of mindless attitudes and behaviors.
Also we should be aware that next week around July 4, Venus will conjoin Uranus, the planet of freedom. Here it can point to some erratic behavior or unpredictable events. Uranus can disrupt the status quo and trigger breakthroughs and sudden or surprising changes, especially in regard to finances or matters of the heart. With Venus, Uranus can also indicate big storms, both literally and metaphorically.
Once it moves beyond Algol and Uranus, Venus should be very happy transiting in its own sign of Taurus. This is considered a very fortunate placement for Venus. It may be especially beneficial for those with Taurus, Libra, Capricorn, or Aquarius Ascendant, Moon, or Sun signs, and also for those who are in Venus cycles. In Taurus, Venus can be refined, stable, generous, and quite pleasant. It is typically very positive for finances and relationships, too. That said, when acting through its lower nature, Venus in Taurus may also have an acquisitive and materialistic tone.
What a month! As you can see, much of the focus will be on the seasonal transition from spring into summer in the northern hemisphere (and fall to winter in the southern). We will experience a few very challenging aspects this month, along with some lovely ones, as well. Thank you for reading my article, and may all be blessed!
Thank you for your post! NOAA and Colorado State University agree that Florida is likely to be in for another active and potentially volatile hurricane season. May all be safe and free from danger and harm!
Thank you so much, Mark. I appreciate your kind support and feedback! 💕🙏✨
