Here we are again on the Moon’s day of the week. It is known as Somvaar in Vedic astrology, meaning the “Day of the Moon.” White, light blue, opalescent, pastel, and silver colors belong to the Moon. Tuning into these on Mondays will have a calming influence and heighten our awareness of subtle energies.

Generally, the best activities for Mondays involve anything to do with social or family events (related to mother/mothering especially); nurturing and creativity; devotional activities; service work; food, shopping, and cooking; intuitive decision making; marriage, making medicines and cosmetics; and healing.
On Tuesday, June 7, the Sun and Moon will form a tense square (90-degree aspect), and the Moon will begin its First Quarter phase, also known as the waxing half-Moon. At this point, we will be halfway to the full Moon of June 14. That full Moon looks to be a potent one falling at the 29th degree of sidereal Scorpio (stay tuned for more on that topic in a later post!).
The late astrologer Dane Rudhyar called the First and Last Quarter Moons "crisis" times: "We decide our futures at the quarter Moons. 'Caught,' as Rudhyar said, 'in the wheel of change,' we turn ourselves towards fulfillment or failure, as an incoming tide of possibilities slams against the momentum of what we've already known."
The monthly Sun-Moon squares may activate a desire to make a change and reorient ourselves, but emotional insecurity can be a challenge at this time. We feel the urge to move forward but may feel some self-doubt or frustration. It’s important to get clear on our intentions before we take any definite committed action.
The Sun will be in Taurus as it squares the Moon in Leo. The Bull and the Lion are very strong-willed and single minded in realizing their goals. But their energy can also be quite rigid, stubborn, or inflexible when they square off. It might be best to wait until the Moon moves into Virgo and forms a harmonious trine with the Sun on June 9 if you need to make a decision but happen to find yourself unsure. And if you feel frustrated or insecure, trust me, this should start to shift and ease up a bit by then (Thursday).
Mercury, which stationed direct last Friday, is still moving very slowly and will continue to be conjoined the malefic fixed “Demon Star” Algol (the Medusa’s head) for a few more days. I wrote about this aspect last week and mentioned that it can indicate a tendency to “lose one’s head,” as in being out of control, impulsive, or misbehaving. It also represents the imbalance and chaos of our collective reality which is a result of the emotional and spiritual fragmentation that we each must examine, heal, and integrate within ourselves. Algol with Mercury suggests the need for mindfulness and vigilance.
As an eclipsing binary star, Algol’s brightness varies noticeably over time. For this reason, it is also called the “Blinking Star.” This is emblematic of its erratic effect according to astrology, which can trigger difficult and unforeseeable attacks or events. Another result of Algol’s extended Mercury conjunction is that certain matters ruled by Mercury are getting hammered by negative energy. For instance, I have been hearing reports of rampant travel snafus due to operational meltdowns in the airline industry (Mercury rules travel).
During the past week, I have also received many reports from friends and clients about a variety of very stressful events including financial woes, identity theft, violent crime, relationship conflicts, illness, and accidents. These seem to be happening especially for those with Mercury-ruled Virgo or Gemini ascendants, Moons, or Suns, or those running Mercury-ruled cycles, as well. I hope some of this eases up when Mercury moves beyond its conjunction with Algol on June 9.
At the same time, Venus is currently transiting in conjunction with Uranus. On Saturday, June 11, Venus and Uranus will exactly conjoin at 22 degrees of Aries, but they are range of aspect from June 3-17. This represents another “disturbance in the force,” especially since they occur in bellicose Aries where Venus is in its detriment. They are also conjoined Rahu, the Moon’s North Node, which magnifies and broadens the potential impact of their distressed conjunction.
Venus signifies the water element (waterways, water supplies, rain/storms, and floods), and additionally relates to all relationship matters; enjoyment, harmony, balance, and peace (or lack thereof); foreign policy and statecraft; and wealth/economics.
Uranus can have an irritable and agitating effect, and astrology traditionally associates it with revolutionary forces, turmoil, disruption, and generally, sudden and sometimes shocking dynamic changes. In its lower expression, Uranus has a general influence over outbreaks of geopolitical turbulence as in economic, social, seismic, and meteorological events.
In general, when Uranus and Venus conjoin, we may experience some vulnerability in Venus ruled affairs, especially related to our finances and personal and professional relationships. On the mundane scene, they may have some impact on sociopolitical and economic affairs.
A previous time that they conjoined in the same section of Aries was in 1938 during the beginning of Hitler’s Nazi reign and terror, the year before WW II officially began; and before that was during the Crimean War in 1855.
Venus and Uranus will come together in the intensely fierce Bharani nakshatra which is ruled by Yama, the god of death. In late July and early August of this year, Mars will conjoin Uranus in the same vicinity of Aries/Bharani along with Rahu.
The Mars-Rahu-Uranus conjunction in late July and early August could possibly point to difficult fated events that would affect the whole world. These could include violent rebellious forces spreading like wildfire across the globe in response to the growing sociopolitical and economic breakdown of a post-lockdown world rife with inflation and debt, and what looks to be looming economic recession or depression; political and corporate corruption, incompetence, and malfeasance, and the abuse of power by sinister globalist forces; cultural upheaval; chaos in the areas of commerce and trade such as supply chain issues and burgeoning small-business closures; the mental health crisis/opioid crisis; growing crime waves including societal violence and theft; scarcity of adequate housing; and food, water, and fuel shortages.
There may also be issues with storms and seismic events; wars; nuclear threats; directed-energy weapons; and potentially, cyberattacks and threats to satellites, the Internet, and utility systems including the electric power grid. Any such events occurring around the conjunction of Venus with Uranus this week may offer a clue about what is to come later in July and early August when Mars and Rahu align with Uranus.
Though the negative power has a stronghold in our world, we must also understand that it exists in the realm of duality in order to awaken us. At the higher level, to which we all may and should aspire, Uranus represents the push for individuality, liberty, and freedom; the divine mind; mind over matter; mystical experiences (spiritual emergence/kundalini awakening); scientific breakthroughs; and technological invention. So there are also some very positive effects in these areas too when Uranus conjoins Rahu and Venus this week, and Rahu and Mars later in late July and early August.
Oh Lord, lead us from the unreal to the real; from darkness to light; from death to immortality. May there be peace in celestial regions. May there be peace on earth. May the waters be appeasing.
oh boy. there’s that Algol again! lol.
OM Shanti Shanti Shantiiiiiiii
