The full Pink Moon culminates today, Saturday April 16 at 2:55 PM EDT, which is 6:55 PM UTC. As the first full Moon of the spring season in the northern hemisphere, it’s known as the "Pink Moon" referring to the beautiful spring flowers that are blooming in many areas of the world now. I always think of it as being the “Pink Moon” too since springtime evokes feelings of being “in the pink,” referring to the English idiom that means to be at the peak of health. This expression goes back to the 1500s when the word “pink” did not refer to a color, but meant to be in a near-perfect condition.
The April full Moon is also known as the Egg Moon, symbolizing the resurrection and rebirth that we experience in springtime in the northern hemisphere; and of course, it is also the Paschal Moon associated with Judaism (Passover April 15-23); and with Christianity (Good Friday April 15, and Easter on April 17).
The full Moon culminates in early Libra, opposite the Sun in early Aries, and in the third pada of Chitra nakshatra which is also in Libra navamsa. This area of the zodiac seeks to promote love and harmony, and is further associated with high creative energy, as well as the need for finding balance in all matters. Full Moons bring completion, so they always mark a monthly turning point when we are meant to “stop and smell the roses”; to bask in nature and tune into lovely spiritual energies; to contemplate where we've come from; and to give thanks for the gifts and lessons of “whatever is” in the present time, too.
Today is also the Hanuman Jayanti Moon, the Vedic celebration in commemoration of the birth of Lord Hanuman, the monkey god and the ardent devotee of Lord Rama. He represents the mind that has become disciplined and filled with devotion, and he is thus the highest representative of Karma Yoga, the path of service to the Divine. Jai Jai Jai Hanuman
May the winds, the oceans, the herbs, and night and days, the mother earth, the father heaven, all vegetation, the sun, be all sweet to us…Let us follow the path of goodness for all times, like the sun and the moon moving eternally in the sky…Let us be charitable to one another…Let us not kill or be violent with one another…Let us know and appreciate the points of view of others…And let us unite.
Jaya Hanuman-ji! Blessed Easter Juliana! thanks for gracing us with these lovely posts.
