Please note that this and all my other forecasts are based on the sidereal zodiac used in both Vedic and western sidereal astrology, not the tropical system used by most western astrologers. All the astrological charts below are calculated according to the sidereal zodiac and Lahiri Ayanamsa.
The Full Moon in Pisces will occur on Sunday, October 9 at 4:55 PM EDT, which will be 8:55 PM UTC (it will be October 10 at 2:25 AM in India; or October 10 at 7:55 AM in Sydney, Australia). Use the World Time Buddy to convert to your time zone if it’s different.
As the lunar frequencies become more active in the days leading up to the Full Moon, we also experience heightened mental activity. This can either make us feel very tired or emotionally restless, or it can enhance spiritual energies which will become super-charged by our contemplative practices.
The Full Moon occurs at the Pratipada Tithi which begins the exact moment when the Sun and Moon oppose each other by 180 degrees of longitude. The day and night before the Pratipada Tithi/Full Moon will be the most significant time for Full Moon rituals and practices. This period is known as the Purnima Tithi. It begins on Saturday, October 8, at 6:14 PM EDT (10:14 PM UTC). You can check the Purnima Tithi timing for your location on Drik Panchang.
This month’s Purnima Tithi is called Sharad Purnima. It marks the Harvest Festival and the end of the monsoon season in India. The Full Moon’s rays at this time are curative, in that the Moon is shining with full force, and it radiates with certain healing properties, described as a nectar which is beneficial for body, mind, and soul.
Traditionally on the day of Sharad Purnima, rice-kheer, a famous Indian sweet dish made of cow milk, rice and sugar, is prepared and left outside for the whole night to be invigorated and fortified with the moonlight. The next day it is is consumed as prasad, a divinely consecrated food.
Love is very much in the air on Sharad Purnima. In many areas of India, Lakshmi, the goddess of love, peace, abundance, and beauty, is worshiped at this time. Also, this day is known as Raas Purnima, which is dedicated to Lord Krishna who performs the blissful passion dance of mystical divine union with Radha and the gopis on this night (Raslila/Raas Leela).
The Full Moon will occur in Pisces, and in the highly benevolent Revati nakshatra. The qualities of Pisces and Revati are nourishing, dreamy, spiritual, creative, mystical, romantic, and sensitive. Falling in the Capricorn navamsa portion of Revati, the Full Moon energy is also balanced and grounded.
All the benefic planets plus Saturn and the Sun will be aspecting the Full Moon, suggesting that this year especially, Sharad Purnima carries an extra-powerful and beneficial spiritual force. This lunar period will be a good time for rest, reflection, healing, loving, being creative, and doing spiritual practice, letting go of the past, and really just working your magic in the world.
According to Lord Krishna: You need a heart full of love, a joyful mind, and a vibrant body. Only then there is leela.
