Four Practical Ways to Honor Venus on Fridays
How to bring more wealth, peace, love, and beauty into your life by celebrating Venus
Happy Friday! Today is ruled by Venus. In Vedic Astrology, Friday is called Shukravaar (Venus is called Shukra). Venus is the planet of money, peace, beauty, and love–four things that we could all use a little more of in our lives! Today, I'm sharing four easy ways that you can honor Venus on Fridays:
One: Connect with Mother Nature
As the planet that rules the divine feminine energy, Venus represents the divine mother and the goddess in all her archetypes. This includes her most magnificent form as Gaia (Mother Earth). We should worship the divine mother in any of her luminous forms every day, but especially on Fridays, the day of Venus.
You can connect with nature by walking in a park or garden, tending to plants in your home, or purchasing flowers.
Two: Work with Color (White, Sky Blue, Pink, and Pastels)
The ancient Vedic teachings associate Venus with different colors. According to the Brihat Jataka, a standard compilation of Jyotisha (Vedic Astrology), dark blue is the color of Venus. In contrast, the Vedic texts Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra, Saravali, Sarvatha Chintamani, and Phaladeepika say that the color of Venus is variegated. I learned from my teachers that this means multicolored, as with rainbow or pastel colors. Other scholars say that Venus is sky blue or white.
In my experience, white, sky blue, pink, and beautiful pastels are the colors to tune in to on Fridays to help lift our spirits and connect with the peaceful, harmonious, gentle, and resourceful vibrations of this weekday. You can honor Venus and increase the amount of wealth, love, peace, and beauty in your life by wearing clothing that includes these colors, or by meditating on these colors on Fridays.
The “Rose of Venus” depicts the pattern which Venus forms in orbit as seen from the Earth over a certain period of years.
Three: Channel Water Energy
In Vedic Astrology, Venus is the main significator of the water element. Spending time around bodies of water on Fridays can help raise your vibration and enhance all the beneficial qualities of Venus in your life. When I used to live near a lake, I would walk around the lake every Friday morning and offer flowers into the water while chanting a Lakshmi mantra.
If you live near a stream, lake, or pond, you could visit this body of water and do the same. Nowadays, I go swimming in a local pool and say my mantras while I swim! Another option is to listen to water sounds or to contemplate water-related imagery.
Additionally, the Venus-ruled water element represents emotional connection and our compassionate link with humanity. Therefore, spending quality time interacting with friends and loved ones on Fridays is another wonderful propitiation for Venus.
Four: Bring Beauty into Your Life
You can propitiate Venus and magnify Venus blessings by simply admiring and invoking beauty in any of its forms, those which are either natural or human-made (artistic creation). For example, you could visit an art gallery, see a movie, listen to your favorite music, or go to an especially beautiful park or garden near your home.
You could also create your own art by drawing, painting, or singing. All forms of music will be beneficial, and especially relaxing string music, or chants or bhajans (devotional songs) dedicated to either Venus, the goddess Lakshmi, or other goddesses that you are most fond of.
Applying rose essential oil over your heart chakra is also a beautiful way to honor and connect with the divine mother energy within and around you. Receiving beauty or healing treatments on Fridays is also a very good ways to honor Venus and maximize its power to support us.
Thomas Aquinas said, "Beauty is the gift of God." May we all walk in beauty as a constant in our lives, no matter what the astral weather is doing out there!
In beauty I walk.
With beauty before me I walk.
With beauty behind me I walk.
With beauty above me I walk.
With beauty around me I walk.
It has become beauty again.
Today I will walk out, today everything negative will leave me
I will be as I was before, I will have a cool breeze over my body.
I will have a light body, I will be happy forever, nothing will hinder me.
I walk with beauty before me. I walk with beauty behind me.
I walk with beauty below me. I walk with beauty above me.
I walk with beauty around me. My words will be beautiful.
In beauty all day long may I walk.
Through the returning seasons, may I walk.
On the trail marked with pollen may I walk.
With dew about my feet, may I walk.
With beauty before me may I walk.
With beauty behind me may I walk.
With beauty below me may I walk.
With beauty above me may I walk.
With beauty all around me may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, lively, may I walk.
In old age wandering on a trail of beauty, living again, may I walk.
My words will be beautiful! (Navajo Prayer, anonymous source)
