Blessed Good Friday to all who observe this profound Christian holy day in remembrance of the crucifixion of Jesus the Christ.
Of all the miracles performed by Jesus, none was equal to that mightiest miracle of the spiritual victory of divine love over evil: ‘Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.’ These words have created in human hearts an everlasting monument to Christ-love...
His act of forgiveness on the cross was the utterance of a divinely human Jesus who had attained final victory over flesh and cosmic delusion and passed the greatest test to which the flesh can be subject.
Even while the dearest thing in life, the human body, was suffering the pangs of torment and imminent death, Jesus did not falter in manifesting his divine nature...He gave up his body but never yielded his spirit. Many of my teacher Ram Dass’ tales about his guru Maharaji Neem Karoli Baba are about love and forgiveness. As an example, once Maharaji directed a disciple to go “meditate like Christ did.” When he was asked how Christ meditated, Maharaji said:
He was lost in love. He was one with all beings and he had great love for all in the world. He was crucified so that his spirit could spread throughout the world. He was one with God. He sacrificed his body for the dharma. He never died. He never died. He is atman living in the hearts of all. See all beings as the reflection of Christ.
Love and light,
Juliana
