We started the week with a powerful Full Moon late Sunday, October 9. This Full Moon will resonate for a few more days until Thursday, 13th October, at which time the disseminating lunar phase will begin. Astrologer Dana Gerhardt describes the disseminating phase as a time when “we're adjusting from the outer orientation of the waxing Moon and turning ourselves progressively inward.”
Until then, we should note that Full Moons represent relationship-oriented themes, just as the Sun and Moon oppose each other in this lunar phase. Inner disharmony, interpersonal conflict, and psychological projection are common issues for those born around Full Moons, and for all of us during this lunar period every month. Certain important truths may be revealed if we are willing to turn inward instead of looking outward. The key expression is a need for balance.
This is doubly emphasized because the sky mirror is manifesting an aspect pattern called the See-Saw from October 9 to 18. One of the seven major chart shapes delineated by western astrologer Marc Edmond Jones, the See-Saw includes planets grouped together in two opposite clusters. When this pattern is present, the two sections of the chart on either side of these clusters are empty of planets and at least 60° or two signs wide.
The best way to describe the action of the See-Saw is that it pulls us in opposite directions, so we may be jumping from one extreme to the other. Just as when the Full Moon phase occurs, when a See-Saw chart shape is present, we need to find a balance between disparate forms and attitudes.
Balance is also important since the lack of planets in air signs is creating a weakness in the air element at this time. In fact, the only planets currently in air signs are Ketu in Libra and Neptune in Aquarius; and, Mars will enter the air sign of Gemini on October 15. However, Ketu and Mars are separative planets that further weaken the air element attunement. This can be felt by some as nervous sensitivity, communication issues, or a loss of personal insight, objectivity, or connection with others. Conscious breathing practices will be very helpful at this time.
Mars will be transiting on the one-degree edge (sandhi) between Taurus and Gemini from October 11 to 23, and again from November 6 to 18. Mars in Gemini can suggest strategic and mechanical gifts that are helpful in problem-solving. That said, the sandhi Mars signifies a point of weakness that can reflect asocial behavior, cynicism, sharp words, impatience, and restlessness. We need to mind the mind and try to avoid getting involved in negative verbal skirmishes.
While Mars is sandhi in transit, it will square Neptune, and the exact aspect will occur on October 12 and again on November 19. This aspect can represent major scandals and lies, as well as manipulation, deceit, confusion, paranoia, and really low energy for some.
On October 11, the Moon transiting in Aries will trigger Uranus square Saturn, an aspect I have written about before that has been in place on and off since 2020. It represents some intensely challenging energy, as we now see with multiple systems and structures breaking down (and breaking through), both literally and metaphorically. It also points to rising international tensions, as well as the battle between those who value basic human rights and sovereignty against massive forces of tyranny and oppression.
