Since January 2022, many of the planets have been transiting together in the Capricorn constellation, and this continues into April. When four or more planets are close together in zodiacal longitude, this is known as a stellium in astrology. The current Capricorn stellium configuration involves Pluto, Saturn, Mars, and Venus, and this has been at play since February. Before that, it was Pluto, Saturn, Mercury, Venus, and the Sun.
Any stellium has a tangled-up quality indicating complex conditions. The Capricorn stellium more specifically can indicate over-strained, aggressive, insecure, apprehensive, suspicious, and pessimistic attitudes. The Moon joins the stellium March 26-28, which acts like a trigger that further activates the stellium. Depending on where it falls and how it interacts within a natal or mundane horoscope, this pattern also brings heavy responsibilities and work-related pressures, and is also a signature for economic and geopolitical upheaval, earthquakes, and explosive events.
Mars-Venus Planetary War (Graha Yuddha) is in place March 22-29 and can indicate heightened emotions and conflicts.
Venus-Saturn Planetary War (Graha Yuddha) is in place March 30-April 2. It can leave us feeling physically exhausted, frustrated, emotionally drained, or depressed.
Mars-Saturn conjunction is within an effective orb since March 26, and their even more intense Planetary War (Graha Yuddha) will be in place April 3-6. The Mars-Saturn conjunction is a problem, because these two are enemies in the planetary family, which means they can work against each other sometimes. Both Mars and Saturn are extraordinarily strong in Capricorn, their signs of “dignity,” where Mars is exalted, and Saturn is in his own sign. Saturn also becomes very strong near the end of a sign, where he is transiting now. Their conjunction is known as “Agni Maruti Yoga” in Vedic astrology, in which the high winds of Saturn tend to fan the fiery energy of Mars, both literally and figuratively.
The higher expression of Mars and Saturn in Capricorn operates when our consciousness is purified, balanced, or evolved enough to bring our personal will into alignment with divine will, in which case we can see a very productive and inventive combination with this conjunction. In other words, it can also become a powerhouse for good, if we ourselves are in balance and can harness what they have to offer: Saturn (and Capricorn) = discipline, realism, hard work, and moderation. Mars = goal-directed energy, valor, passion, and vim and vigor. The late Swami Sri Yukteswar said that we must defeat the planets and outwit the stars, because all the challenging planetary placements reflect our karma, that which we individually and collectively have created, and that which only we can resolve.
Mercury is currently transiting in sidereal Pisces (March 24 to April 8) and is also combust (too close to the Sun), so our thinking and communication capacity may not be as clear as we would prefer; thus, some may feel nervous, conflicted, disorganized, or unsettled. It’s an important time to focus on grounding practices, and take herbs and nootropic supplements to balance the nervous system/brain, like Ashwagandha and Gotu Kola.
The Kala Sarpa (Draconic Bowl) is still in place, in which all the planets are transiting within the nodal axis (which I have written about many times before)…it is quite polarizing and tends to exaggerate sensitivity, obsessive thinking, compulsions, and anxiety.
And the Moon is waning now, moving into its Balsamic phase on Tuesday, March 29, the time of the month when we are meant to retreat and tune in, rest, cleanse, clean, let go, and heal, in preparation for the New Moon of new beginnings, which starts the next monthly lunar cycle.
The New Moon in sidereal Pisces will culminate on Friday, April 1 at 2:24 AM Eastern Daylight Time/6:24 AM UTC. This is Chaitra Shukla Pratipada, the New Moon that marks the Lunar New Year and the Chaitra Navratri festival according to the Vedic calendar. The Vedic Lunar New Year will be celebrated April 1 in North and South America, and April 2 everywhere else. I will post another article about this later in the week. Until then, keep in mind that a lot of karmic “churning” (a “disturbance in the force”) can occur in the days leading up to the Vedic New Year and Navratri festival.
Love and light,
